Which Gaming Headset?

Solution
With three kids, we have gone thru many a head set....from $30 to $355.... based upon that experience, we found that anything we tried below $90 or so, kinda didn't last long. I have picked up the Logitech G930 for as low as $79....if ya can scrape up an extra $25, thatz what I'd recommend.... especially if you have oft had the headset ripped off ya head when standing up with a wired unit :)

I use those: http://www.soundblaster.com/products/Sound-Blaster-Tactic3d-Sigma.aspx There really well made, cable is long enough and seems solid. Sound is very good for that price range. I was actually a bit surprised how good they sound, clean with deep base. Comfortable and light as well. Microphone is quite good. The virtual surround isn't perfect (like all virtual surround headsets), but it's pretty accurate most of the time.
I bought them for about $60 last year. Now I can't find them anywhere for under $90, but they are still worth it.

Those G930 look really nice. I have a few questions though. Are they comfortable? They look heavy, so are they? I see there are a lot of buttons. Are they easy to use? Do they cancel noise out well? Is the microphone good? I see that you have to charge them, how long does the battery last? And are do they deliver a very good sound quality?
Thanks, AJLefty015

Those were actually my original choice. Never got to test them, so I can't give you an opinion about sound or comfort, but I can tell what drove me off from buying them. Terrible reviews concerning reliabillity. I've seen tons of people complaining how their headset won't turn on, how mic stopped working, how battery life get short super fast, how connection breaks off, how fragile they are and so on.. I know there's propably as many happy users as those who encounter problems, but I suggest you look it up before you make a decision.

My oldest son had a $399 pair of Sennhesiers but kept ripping the cord out and having to repair it. So he bought the 930s and hasn't looked back. I don't use them, he uses them all the time instead of the 550 watt 5.1 speakers he has. he likes them.... but he's at work atm so I cant get detailed answers for ya

OK I texted him, he won't be home till after midnite .... or at least until peeps stop ordering pizzas :)

he loves it.... has had it 3since December 2011

I lasts about 3 - 4 hours on battery but also works plugged in.... used to get 5 - 6, sometimes more.

As for sound quality, most descriptive thing I can say is he went from the $355 Sennheisers to this and he ain't complaining about the sound

And no more having the thing ripped off his head when standing up or yanking the cord outta the casing. He is really impressed with the noise cancelling and they are much lighter than the Sennheisers. Mic is great; "buttons can do almost anything" and are very easy to manipulate.

As you might imagine.... having them from age 16 to 19 and owning over 200 games, he gets lotta use outta them. As I mentioned, he has the Logitech Z5500 series speakers and is thinking of selling them cause never uses.
