The 750Ti is an excellent card and I have one. This Gigabyte GTX 750Ti OC Low Profile http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GV-N75TOC-2GL-Graphics-C... would be a great pair with your setup and will fit.

The 750Ti is a great card because it provides so much performance with very little power consumption. As DonkeyOatie said, the 750Ti is the most powerful card that would be compatible with your current setup. To go any higher you would need to upgrade your power supply.

Here is how the 750Ti performs in BF4 on all settings at 1080p.

I would be looking to shop around for at least a GTX 750ti. It is more modern and more powerful. You can get one starting at $125, including a $20 rebate.

I use a Superclocked 750ti. It means that the standard card has been safely overclocked (made faster) by the manufacturer and comes with a full warranty.

What type of games do you want to play?
Personally I wouldn't waste my money on a gtx 750ti or lower as I don't see the benefit. If you want a new card I would get a R9 270x for $140 if you can afford a little more get a gtx 960 for $180-200.
However i use to own a gtx760 and that was a great little card as I could get 30fps on AC unity high settings. If I was you I would look for a second hand one because since the gtx 960 came out(which is slightly better than the gtx760) the second hand gtx 760's have drop in price ($120-140).
Don't worry to much about the superclock/overclocked labels as all that means is that the card has been slightly overclocked. I'm gonna dumb it down a little but For example EVGA has a gtx 970 regular card < superclocked < super superclocked < ftw but they are basically the same thing.

That's all fine, but have you looked at the OP's system and it's PSU. The GTX750ti is about as good as will run in it.

just to make sure, it will fit right?

This http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04091805 is the motherboard for your system and has the PCI-e slot that you need. The 300W PSU will power the GPU, BUT you must be sure to get a card that does NOT require a PCI-e power connector. My EVGA Superclocked is such a card.

If you are uncertain, post here and we will check it for you.

If you want a more powerful GPU, you will need to upgrade your PSU. I would also consider adding another 4Gb of RAM if you plan to play significant games.

The GTX750ti is an excellent lower-mid range GPU according to the reviewers, with exceptional power efficiency. My facts trump your opinion, which you are entitled to have.

The specifications for the replacement PSU for that system give it 300W. What it has now, I do not know. What I do know is that I would never recommend anyone to try and run a GTX 960 on a 300W PSU. The rest of the system will use about 80W, but running a PSU at above 70% of it's capacity is inefficient and may shorten its life, even if it were an excellent, high quality PSU. I expect that the PSU installed is a typical half-decent builder grade unit which is not intended to be run near the max. under the stresses of gaming. There will be transient power demand spikes considerably in excess of the maximum. You can do it if you want. I will not recommend that anyone else does it.

The PSU is also 300W on ALL rails, some of that is 5 or 3V ,so it is unlikely to deliver 25 amps on the 12V rail. I can see GTX750 for 120, but GTX 960s seem to cost about $200 and up. Where can you get one for $160? The point is moot without and upgrade anyway, the PSU has no PCI-e 6 or 8 pin connector to power the GTX960.

If something better would run in the computer, I would certainly suggest it, but it won't.
