so i am building a gaming computer and i have my parts list. this list is missing ram, as i am unsure whether to go over my budget for 16 gb or perfectly on my budget for 8 gb. i am also missing a psu. i have 200 dollars left for ram and psu. was wondering if it is actually worth getting extra 16 gb ram as i may be doing minimal video editing playing games like dayz, arma 2, maybe arma 3 and battlefield 4, and i can always upgrade later.

with my parts list i am not really looking for recommendations other than ram and psu yet but rather asking if there will be any bottlenecking and problems like that.

here is my parts list:
video card: either gigabyte gtx 770 2gb or gigabyte gtx 770 4gb (not sure which one)
optical drive: optical drive Samsung sh-224 internal 24x dvdrw
cpu: intel i5 4690 3.5ghz 4 core
cpu cooling: cooler master HYPER 212 EVO CPU COOLER
mobo: asus maximus vII hero
hard drive 1: samsung 120gb ssd 2.5”
hard drive 2: seagate barracuda 1 TB 7200rpm
case: thermaltake chaser a21 mid tower
software: windows 7 home premium

well, your mobo is a z97 but your processor is not unlocked. You could step down to a h97 mobo instead since you're not overclocking, or otherwise go for a 4690k instead. The GTX 770 won't be bottlenecked by a 4690, but the 4690 can easily go with better cards like a GTX 970. In fact, given the price of a 970, you'd be better off with it over the 770

If your budget is $200 left, you're better off going with 8 GB of RAM and a good PSU. 16 GB is only necessary if you do heavy editing/3D modelling work.

because it's true. Gaming really doesn't need more than 8 GB of RAM right now. And you should never skimp out on a power supply because a bad PSU can easily take out your other components with it.

ah, gotcha. The sniper RAM is a really good module for the money (cas 9, 1866 1.5v). The PSU is a very highly rated PSU made by Superflower (a high end PSU OEM) on top of being fully modular for a good price. Jonnyguru rated it 9.8/10

So, I'm not surprised that someone else has recommended you these parts. Since two people have recommended the same parts on two different occasion, go for it :D
