mixing different ram

Solution
Might run into a couple of problems with that - 1) as Coryjacko said, basically there's no guarantee in mixing sets of DRAM 2) In this instance many have had trouble mixing the Fury line with other DRAM as the Fury's take a non-traditional approach and use PnP where 99+ % of all DRAM 1600 and up use XMP and 3) If you have an older mobo may run into problems with the Fury since it isn't compatible with older chipsets (pre1155 socket chipsets)

I really wouldn't recommend mixing and matching modules as it's a recipe for disaster. I think you should wait till you have a little more money to spend and pick up a 2x8Gb kit.

While Undying89 is correct, he may never of had any problems and maybe you won't either but there is always the possibility of an issue occurring and I wouldn't recommend it.
