I have a notebook that has windows 64 bit home and a desktop window 7 32 bit OS. Is it possible for me to install the windows 64 bit and use the key to active on my desktop and use the 32 bit OS to the notebook.? The 64 bit would be more useful on my desktop than on my notebook. Thank you in advance for the reply!

I am sorry, but that IS CORRECT. You cannot transfer an OEM copy of Windows from one PC to another. If it was activated on a PC, that product license key is now tied to that machine, and cannot ever be installed again on another system, unless said system somehow becomes broken before a reasonable amount of time.
Retail versions of the OS, yes. If they are the OEM versions of Windows that came with the machines when you bought them, no.

That is NOT correct. All they keys interchange. The OEM copies only come with one type of media, but they keys work both ways. You just have to find the 64 bit media on your own.

Just for clarification, you don't have to "swap" them. Just leave the notebook as is and just install the 64 bit version on your desktop using the desktop key.

Remember, switching from 32 bit to 64 bit, or vice versa, requires a clean install.
