I just built my pc yesterday. I have an i5 2500k. I have a stock cooler also. I installed it yesterday and noticed that the temps were at 91 degrees just on the bios. I have not done anything to it. i don't even have windows installed! I am using some cheap masscool stars 700 thermal paste. I tried reapplying it but it just made it worse! Now the temps are on the 100's range! The heatsink is a e97378 PLEASE HELP!

Solution
Attach the heatsink to the motherboard while the motherboard is outside of the case. This will allow you to visually inspect that all the push pins have been completely pushed through, and firmly attached.

The most likely reason for your high temps is the heatsink not being on properly. With it already installed in the case, sometimes it can be a little (a lot) scary when the motherboard starts to flex from pushing.
