hello
i have Asus black edition rampage iv mb and i want to buy Asus RAIDR Express PCIe SSD 240GB but i dont know if it feets on the mb
its says on the mb:
4 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x16 or x16/x8/x16 or x16/x8/x8/x8, black) *1
2 x PCIe 2.0 x1
& on the asus ssd its says:
PCIe 2.0 x2
so what is the diffrent between pci-e 2.0 x1 to 2.0 x2
it feets or not? so i wont buy it from usa and pay 700$ and it wont even feets.

What you need to worry about is
1: do you have an slot to put it in? (apparently you do but we don't know if your x16 slots are empty or not) (if you have more than 1 gpu then this may be an issue, see your mb manual for pcie lane assignments for when the 3rd or 4th x16 slot is populated)

2: Will it fit in your case? (you dont tell us which case you have so you will need to measure it yourself)

The difference between pci-e 2.0 x1 to 2.0 x2 is one Pcie (version 2) lane which equates to about 500GB/s. This means if you stick this drive into an x1 slot then you will get no better speeds than any modern SSD thats running on a sata3 port.

I don't know why you would spend $700 for this when for the same price you could probably get two...

I don't know why you would spend $700 for this when for the same price you could probably get two 1tb SSD's and raid0 them together to get equivalent performance and 8 times the capacity. Just be sure to get drives that actually work well in a raid.
