Hello, as the title says i wanna buy a new old cpu which is core 2 duo .. That's what i can afford at the moment just to give my pc a little boost to make it able to run some games like rift, tera, watchdogs ..
My specs are :
Gpu Nvidia Geforce 9500Gt ddr3 zalman
Cpu Intel Celeron 3.06Ghz
Psu unknown type
HDD dual 160 gigs disks
Mobo Gigabyte G41
Ram 3 *i dunno how much speed
So i found some used cpus on internet for sale for about 30 dollars so the price is good for me and i cant afford more than that .. some of them were : e8400, e7200, e5xx and a e6600 but very expensive
... I cant remember the rest and also dont know if that will be a good decision to make to buy an old cpu that wont live longer but i really wanna play some games so i gave it thought so pls i need ur opiniona on which to buy or if i need an upgrade to other parts all i can afford maximumly is 70 dollars more than that i am ruined .
Thanks in advance .

P.s - there were dual cores .

I agree completely, but both are equally necessary.

If you can find one, get a Core 2 Quad but I'm still not sure you are going to be able to play all the games you really want to, after the quad you will need a stronger GPU. An R7 265 is going to be a good card to grab used, but if you can the R8 270 would be better.

Yes! exactly as shadows listed! And here is a GPU: http://www.ebay.com/itm/XFX-Radeon-R7-260X-Double-Dissipation-Video-Card-2GB-GDDR5-PCI-Express-3-0-/121582519868?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c4ee2063c

If you can't save up that much to play games then the GT 730 or GTX 740 would be a good fit. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-EVGA-NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-730-2GB-GDDR5-VGA-DVI-HDMI-Low-Profile-pci-e-Video-/380936429828?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58b194a104

I'd like to say that if you buy the expensive graphics card you may be pleasantly surprised with the performance your Q8200 and the R7 260x deliver together, I think you will be underwhelmed with a GT 730/740.

Well guys you really overwhelmed me with your great answers, so thank you all BIGtime .
And for the gfx cards suggested to me, the r7 is too way expensive even it makes me drool for it lol so imagine the higher series !!
And the quad core cpu i think its a wow but dont u think its too cheap for its performance i mean do u gauarantee buying a cpu like that with that price ? Could i lt be malfuctioning or smth ?
And my mobo i mistook its model its G31M-ES2L

My questions are
Are the ram sufficient if i bouth the gpu and cpu ? And how about the psu for power ? And the bottleneck ?
Budget is tight so everything muat be perfect u know .
And also if am about to sell the gpu i have and cpu, whats the best price for them to put for sale ?

$100 for a graphics card is the cut off for a card you could classify as "for gaming". $75 is the lowest you should spend period. Anything less and you are buying the same performance you have now. The GT 740 is the card we put in all of our computers that get GPUs. It is an excellent daily use GPU, we do not consider it a gaming CPU for more than your free to plays. Try this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EVGA-GeForce-GT-740-SC-1GB-GDDR5-2DVI-/331492883113?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d2e83faa9

That $23 processor is the best upgrade for your computer, you should have already ordered it. Go do that.

If you really only have 2 ram slots then that is going to have to be fine. Ideally if you have 4 eventually you would want to fill them up with a matching 4dimm 2gb kit for 8gb of ram in dual channel. It would help to know which ram you have. BUT FOR NOW your ram and your PSU should be fine for the cards and processor we are recommending.

If you do all that you will have a computer you can use for gaming until you have the income for a next gen console or a high end pc.

Edit: It occurs to me that you can learn how to overclock on this board if you ever got a cheap cooler.

Ok, that clearified lots of things
So if i go with just the cpu along with my gpu that i already have will i have any issues ? Any bottlenecks ? Till i save up for the gpu .
And i just googled about that cpu and hit a futuremark reviews page and found that this cpu q8200 been rated under the q6600 and the intel pentium G and both of those are much cheaper than the q8200, so !!
What do you think ? A final decision on a good cpu and i will go look on ebay or any other site for a better price to buy it and also considering the shipping.. I'm from Egypt thou ..
Thanks again .

the q9400 would be fine, I have a q9300 2.5ghz in another rig with an hd 8570 and 4gb ram and it's good for what it is.

if you just have a prebuilt power supply, save up for a 750ti gpu and it'll be a nice pairing with the core 2 quad
