While playing Far Cry 4 (Ultra Settings),my GPU temperature goes to 80 degree celcius.
System Specs
CPU-Intel i5 4440 @ 3.1 ghz
GPU-Zotac Geforce GTX 970
RAM-Corsair Vengeance 2x4 Gb 1600mhz
Motherboard-Gigabyte H81M-S1
PSU-Corsair VS550
Cabinet-Cooler Master CMP250
Fans-1 front fan for intake and 1 rear for exhaust
MSI Afterburner and Zotac Firestom show the gpu temp at 77-80 degree celcius and fan speed at 50%
Nothing has been tweaked in Afterburner and Firestorm
Is 80 degrees safe for the card?Especially for 2-3 hours of continuous heavy load? Also what should i do to reduce the temp of the card?
Please help

Is 80 degrees normal for the 970?I am worried because this is an expensive GPU and I dont want to fry it.Will installing a side panel fan help in reducing the temps? If so,should it be intake or exhaust?

I had this High Idle Temp issue since 4 to 5 months. I search over internet everywhere cant found the solution. but then finally i bought gta 5 i love that game so much watching youtube videos of gta 5 ultra settings graphics looks so awesome. but when i do my gta5 graphics on ultra results loss of fps and shuttering occured. but then finally i rid this issue by my self and now i can play on ultra with full 60fps no shutterng fucking hell smooth you hav to do 2 things as mention below.
1. Open a command prompt. (Run a command prompt as Administrator in Windows vista/7/8)
Copy command line and Paste sc stop NvStreamSvc hit enter then copy paste 2nd line on 2nd task sc config NvStreamSvc start= disabled then hit enter close cmd
2. Go to task manager and stop this process. (Services and Controllerapp.exe32*)
close task manager. Now see your temp it will decrease and gpu utilization will be reduce from 97% to Early 1% to 15%
Suggestion: Keep ur Room Cool Always.
Hope it works for u all.

Guys are you serious? If you put your fan speed up that high then your fans will die fast. there is a reason why manufacturers give you a default: its because it is the safest setup (usually). your case isnt bad at all man and dont put your fan speed to 70 percent ever. it should never exceed 40 percent while gaming and on idle they should be at 0 percent. are playing everything on ultra? there is no need for that dude. this is an expensive card (at least for me it is), and you shouldnt waste your money because of game settings that are barely recognizable. play on high settings, and i advise you to listen to what i said about fan speed.
