Hi everybody,
I am in the middle of a build and I was recommended by a friend to use this site for advice, tips and guidance. I have no experience in building but I have spent many hours researching almost every component. I have already spent around $300 on an:
Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor
and
GIGABYTE GA-G1.Sniper Z97 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Next I plan to buy:
Rosewill CAPSTONE-550 550W Continuous @ 50°C, Intel Haswell Ready, 80 PLUS GOLD, ATX12V v2.31 & EPS12V v2.92, SLI/CrossFire Ready, Active PFC Power Supply
$69.99 Save: $30.00 (30%) $49.99 after $20.00 rebate @ Newegg
Rosewill Rise Glow - ATX Full Tower Gaming Computer Case - Supports Up to E-ATX MBs, Dual PSUs
$99.99 Save: $30.00 (23%) @ Newegg
Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB (2X4 GB) PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3 240-Pin SDRAM Dual Channel Memory Kit
$66.99 @ Amazon
How does this look so far?
***And this seems to be widely debated,
R9 280X or GTX 960
Radeon R9 280X 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Double Dissipation Edition Video Card
$234.99 Save: $45.00 (16%) $204.99 after $30.00 rebate @ Newegg
or
GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card
$209.99 $199.99 after $10.00 rebate @ Newegg
I have spent a good amount of time researching and it seems as though the R9 280X is the better GPU. Is this an unanimously accepted truth??
Lastly,
I have not been able to find any good advice on hard drives that would be suitable for my build. I don't want to invest in a SSD quite yet, so with that in mind I was hoping for a good mid-range alternative. Would something like this be manageable?
Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
$54.99 Save: $15.00 (21%) @ Newegg
I plan to use my computer for games like CS:GO, Dota 2, Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 and am hoping to eventually stream content on Twitch.tv.
Does this seem like a good build? Also will I have room to size down the case to save some money? I'm reaching a max in my price range so any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
