Hi everyone. I usually don't make posts about this kind of stuff so I am sorry.

I am currently using an AMD Radeon HD 5770 with an otherwise powerful computer. My display is 2560x1440 and I need a new GPU. Does anyone know what the ETA is on AMD's new 300 series? Should I throw in the towel and grab a 980? Should I try to hold out for a 980 Ti or something similar? I'm in need of guidance~!!

A couple things to note. I run an mITX board and case so this is single GPU territory. I can go up to around $900-1000. I'm open to waiting maybe 2 months.

Thanks for any help!!

The R9 300 series will probably be released in April. In my opinion it's worth holding out for, as the R9 390X brings some nice new toys to the table in addition to a big performance boost. By that time we will most likely also be able to make some educated guesses about the 980 Ti/Titan 2.

That said, a 980 or even a 970 does a damn good job at 1440p. So does the R9 290X, which has become really cheap in response to the 970, but it's still a very hot, power hungry card. If you don't want to wait those cards are absolute powerhouses.

EDIT: Missed the mITX part. If you have a case with room for a 120mm radiator (for the R9 390X) and/or one of those mITX cases with room for a full sized graphics card my advice stands. If not you might...

Most definitely! I have the CaseLabs Mercury S3!

I can definitely wait till April! I would consider myself an Nvidia fanboy, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give the 390X a shot.
