Skyrim (PC) crashes computer upon launch

When I play Skyrim from Steam it launches the menu, and that works fine. The problem is when I hit play it closes the launcher (as if it were about to go into the game), and then nothing, just the Windows loading icon instead of my mouse cursor. After about a minute of nothing my computer bogs up, and I am forced to do a hard reset (essentially crashes it) otherwise I am unable to do anything. My drivers are up to date. I have tried repairing the files with Steam, changing to sound properties, and even copying all of the files from my laptop where Skyrim does work on (even that did not work). Also note that this is not a CTD (Crash To Desktop) error, this is Skyrim not even starting up at all (apart from the launcher), and forcing me to restart my computer. Someone please help me solve this problem, as it has been going on ever since I bought the game.

This was happening even before I installed mods.

I can't find the error message, also specs:

i5-2500k@4.5GHz
4x2 GB of ddr3 1600MHz ram
GTX 660 ti
Think those are all the specs that matter in this case.

Ok I finally got an error message after waiting for about 5 minutes or so: "A required .DLL file, EKC3220.DLL was not found", and then a bunch of application errors (one of them being chrome) that were caused by me trying to launch Skyrim.

I have done that so many times before, also I accidentally clicked best solution.

I will try this, but I find it hard to believe it is a mod. This is because it works perfectly fine on my laptop with all of the mods installed, but not my desktop. Completely reinstalling it with no mods; I will update on if it worked or not.

It was a missing .dll file, I just copied the one that was missing into the Skyrim folder next to the other .dll files and it worked! Thank you soooooooo much (finally works)!
