Hi there,

I was wondering why my desktop would suddenly turn black in the area I highlighted with the click and drag select feature, and also around any short cut I hovered my mouse over, I have to continuously restart windows explorer to fix this, it generally happens when I open a new program. After a short Google search I found out about the SFC feature and I ran a scan. SFC was able to repair several things, however it did say some things were unable to be repaired. I checked the CBS log file and I wasn't sure what information you guys would need but I copied the last chunk which included one of these irreparable issues:

The SFC scan didn't actually fix the black highlighting on my desktop issue, so I guess my question is twofold: How do I fix the issues that were irreparable and does anyone have any idea why this weird black screen issue is occuring?

Happy to provide any information needed.

MOBO: Gigabyte Z97x SLI

Hi,

First, test it in safe mode to see if the problem persist.

Also, did you check for malware virus ?
Goto bleepingcomputer.com and download / run adwcleaner , roguekiller malware byte to rule out malware
(run combofix if heavily infected and have windows 7 or under)

If no malware, try updating your gpu driver.
Also you can try another browser to see if it happens there, if not it means the problem comes from browser configuration

If all that fails, since it's a laptop, it's most likely a problem with your gpu and probably need to change the mobo.

Good luck

I uninstalled all Nvidia software and cleared out the HKEY files of Nvidia software and reinstalled everything, it still worked so I tried changing my desktop background from my custom image to a standard windows 'Space' themed transition thingy, and I haven't had the problem since, weird!
