ASUS Maximus > Any way to turn off Turbo Boost to lower temps? And Intel Virtualization Technology?

I completed a build recently and while using the machine, I'm getting the following numbers while gaming on an ASUS Maximus Hero VII and 4790K processor using Noctua U12S air cooler, all running at stock:

HWiNFO
4970K CPU: min: 37; max: 59; avg: 49
GTX 970: min: 33; max: 62; avg: 56

The numbers are fine. Not too high, could be lower if had water cooling, but they are fine. However, I wouldn't mind them being a little lower just for longevity (and the only restart I've had was when running The Valley bench while afk, so don't know what happened).

I don't want to mess with the BIOS values for voltage, timing, etc. as I don't know what I'm doing.

Can I just turn off Turbo Boost somewhere to see how temps change? (I can't find where on ASUS bios) Anything else to turn off I might not need that can affect temps?

Second thing, and it's unrelated, but do I need Intel Virtualization Technology setting enabled to use things like VMWare? I've not tried yet, I just noticed it was disabled by default.

In Googling this, I thought the answer to both would be simple yet...no luck on my end making real sense of it :(

Thanks in advance!

So I found where to turn off "Turbo Mode" (under CPU Power Management) in BIOS in my ASUS Maximus Hero VII.

So far, the new temps using the same scenario in my OP is:

Old: 4970K CPU: min: 37; max: 59; avg: 49
New: 4970K CPU: min: 33; max: 46; avg: 40

So yeah, not sure why it shoots that much more voltage in while under Turbo, but I'm leaving it off. I'll lose some marginal performance but I'll be fine and hopefully avoid any heat related issues.

I am currently purchasing a the last few components to my first build. With a 4970k cpu and ASUS Maximus Hero VII as well, but with the gtx 980. Your thread has been extremely helpful as I'm learning a lot and m very concerned about heat as well. I am planning on getting a Noctua NH-D15 82.5 CFM CPU Cooler. Can't help regarding the vmware, but glad you got your temps down.

Heat issues? What issue your temps are perfect FYI these CPUs can safely go 80c before they even throttle them self's and 100c before they shutoff 60c isn't is anything to worry about with the stock cooler CPUs can easily reach that temp at stock
