Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of wanting to upgrade my PC but don't have enough knowledge. I currently have the CybertronPC Borg-Q TGM4213A Gaming PC AMD FX-4100 3.80GHz, 8GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, GeForce GT610 Video, DVDRW, Windows 8.1 64-bit from tigerdirect.com. My motherboard is a ms-7641 manufactured by MSI. Now my question is, I want to upgrade to the Asus Geforce GTX 750 Ti. Will that be compatible? If it helps i did buy the pci network adapter and from what I remember my motherboard takes both pci and pci express slots. And also wanted to know if the AMD FX 8350 or 8300 processor would be compatible without having to buy anything else. If anyone could give me some information that would be highly appreciated!! Thanks alot.

Matt,

The GTX 750 Ti should have no trouble working with your motherboard. It'll sit right in the PCI-E 2.0 slot that your GT 610 is in right now. It's a great card to upgrade to because it uses so little power.

As for the FX-8350 upgrade, there most likely won't be a problem, but there is a chance you'll have to update your BIOS. The 760 chipset sometimes has problems with FX-series processors.

No problem!

The BIOS is kind of like an operating system for your motherboard. You generally don't see it because you rarely have to access it, which you usually do by pressing a function key repeatedly on startup when you see the motherboard logo on your screen.

Updating it is somewhat of an involved process. You need to download the drivers onto a usb stick, then enter the BIOS screen by hitting the correct function key (it's f8 for mine, but it will tell you which one to hit along the bottom of the screen when it boots) then "Flash" the bios, which is a function you will find on the BIOS menu screen.

It's much more likely that you won't have to do this at all, as you're already running an FX processor so the motherboard most likely already has the necessary software to properly run them. I just wanted to mention it on the off chance that it's an issue you run into.

Oh okay I get it now, Well i'm glad you mentioned that because I would like to know all the aspects before doing so, I am going to place called microcenter from which i heard was really good. They will be installing my parts so I will ask additional questions but I think I am going to go with the parts I mentioned. You've been a great help thank you very much!
