Hello, all. I'm building a new gaming rig and need to purchase a network card and I need some help.
My current Wireless Router is a Netgear AC 1540. It says it has 2.4 ghz and 5ghz Channel. My laptop only has a single channel card so I can only access the 2.4ghz card. My internet speed is 22/2 mbps, I'm not very savy when it comes to networking, so i'm not sure what wireless network card to get. Does a 22/2 mbps justify getting a duel channel network card or is it too slow to reap the benefits of a 5ghz channel. What are some decent cards any help is better than none. Thank you.

Unless you have a lot of wifi networks in your area, stick to using the 2.4ghz for range, using channels 1,6,11 as primary channels and enable 40mhz mode if your router supports it for optimised bandwidth. Ensure wirless connection is using WPA2+AES and enable WMM on network card, you can easily max out your connection using existing network card.

Google doesn't recognise a Netgear 1540AC as a model number?

Oh the wireless network is from in my house. I just can't run a cable to the router since its over a high traffic area and I don't want to do drilling to pull it through the wall.

I really don't want to use a USB adapter because i've heard it over heats and sometimes bottlenecks connection.
