Hi all,

Just wondering if this graphics card will fit on the motherboard I was planning on buying.
Asus H97-PRO GAMER motherboard with Gigabyte R9 280 Windforce 3GB graphics card.

I'm planning on getting an I5-460 cpu along with an Antec VP-600P-600W PSU if this information helps at all.

Also any helpful tips on what to look at to identify when parts like these will be compatible would be great for a newby PC builder would be amazing.

Thank you for any help with this.

Sure will! that card will fit just fine on your motherboard, what you really have to look at is the clearance the card will have in your case, firstly if it will fit end to end, and also if the top of the card will have enough room to put your side panel back on :)

You should be good to go with the rest of your parts as well, have fun with your build!

Motherboards will generally be compatible with GPU's if they support the same interface (PCIe x16, etc)

I assume you meant i5 4960? either way, it looks great, just be sure to make sure the card will not hid your hard drive bays, if you have mid to full atx you will be fine most likely, but you should still measure it out just in case. enjoy that build.

I was planning on getting the Fractal design 1300 case, which says that graphics cards up to 380mm in length (my card is 285mm) can be placed in it, but then it also mentions that "One or more 3.5" hard drives may interfere with side-mounted power connectors on graphics cards longer than 200 mm". And the power supply I was originally going to get is now out of stock, so I will probably end up having to go with the EVGA 600B 600W 80+ bronze psu.

By side-mounted they mean that the connector for gpu are on the side facing the front of the case, the connectors are on the top (facing the side panel) as far as I can see after a quick search. you should be fine.
