Hi, i need help with my dad's laptop (Acer Aspire V5-573PG) his laptop doesn't pick up any ethernet connection and we went to network and sharing center > change adapter settings, There is no "Ethernet" adapter there, any idea how to fix or help? we are doing a system restore right now and he says it used to work.

Solution
Sounds like malware.

From a different computer download malware bytes to a flash drive and then run it on infected pc.
If the infection still does not work then you have a more advanced malware and will have to reinstall windows.

You could have a virus and a bad Ethernet nic card at the same time, if malwarebytes does not fix your problem you can try one of 2 things to check the Ethernet card before reinstalling winodws:
1) Boot into safe mode, if the nic works it is without a doubt a software issue. Now if the infection got really deep into windows then it could still prevent the Ethernet nic from working here as well.
2) Linux live boot cd (or usb drive). If the Ethernet port does not work doing this then you can know for sure...

ok, so we tried that and when we run the installation, it says cant locate the network card and cancels the driver install, also tried to do a system restore but says there is some kind of anti virus blocking us from doing a system restore although there is no anti virus software on the laptop.
