Hello, I have decided to upgrade my CPU,GPU and motherboard. Here's what I'm running with now, This is mostly a gaming rig for world of warcraft.

CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660
Ram: 16GB DDR3
Motherboard: gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
PSU: CORSAIR CXM series CX430M

I live fairly close to a micro center and want to purchase a combo motherboard/processor from them as it is nicely discounted, Where I come to you for help is the GPU I want to eventually upgrade to is a GTX970 but I'm not sure which motherboard and processor would be the best choice as I'd like something that gives me more upgrade options in the future as well and is compatible with the GTX970, options are here http://www.microcenter.com/site/brands/intel-processor-bundles.aspx
Also I am going to have to upgrade PSU as well most likely so which wattage should I aim for?

Go with a 4690k bundle. Any compatible board is eligible, but I would stick with one on the THG recommended list, if possible. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-intel-amd-motherboard,3902.html For WoW, you do not need more than an i5. I would go with an Evga B2 series 750w, to allow for SLI GTX 970. Don't forget an aftermarket cooler, for the CPU, for overclocking. Coolermaster Hyper 212 is a good choice, if your case will fit one.

the fx 6300 will hold out just fine until 2016, when skylake, and new line of FX processors come out. 390x from Amd for gpu is just a couple weeks away, and will sport 4gb of HBM memory, which could mean easy 4k gaming.

Also with Mantle, and dx 12 it will help the cpu out a lot.

going from fx 6300 Ocd to an i5 isnt a very huge difference in gaming, and in my onion isnt worth the amount of money.

I've found the FX 6300 lacking for me in some areas still as I have massive lag in some areas of gameplay and the processor simply can't handle all the things going on.

If the RIG is for gaming purposes mostly, the i5 bundle are the best option, with the cheaper motherboard Z97 that can be in the bundle it should be enough. Z97 chipset should allow 4th and the 5th (Still to come in a few months) intel processors. however if you are not gonna to overclock if there were any bundle with a i5-4590 would be enough.

For a PSU depends on your plans to SLI or not, and if you plan to overclock. On the safe side I always consider a 600W PSU (80 bronze at least) for single GPU with overclock. If 2 way SLI 750W or 800W.

World of warcraft, no overclocking as I don't really know much about how to do it and I don't want to mess up and fry my processor.

Well silly goose, the FX cpus are meant to be overclocked, on stock they just cant get enough ipc to keep up sometimes.
As for world of warcraft, that game can easily be maxed on a fx 6300 overclocked, just will get 80 FPS as opposed to 120 FPS.

if you want to go cheap, and build a rig specifically for WOW, i suggest g3258, or i3, and any gpu from r9 280, to gtx 980.
