I run a geforce 610, and it's been wrong.. But that is a seriously weak card, and I still push it to limits I shouldn't- like playing fallout new vegas with 40+ mods (;.. poor card..

This is definitely a pre built system.. I'm going to say a Dell XPS that costs right around a grand. I don't see how they can label the 745 series as gtx, seing as most of their vram is GDDR3.

Yeah. For a grand OP could have built something with an i5 and at least a 280x, if not a 290. He still has that opportunity though..

I see something like case swap, new gpu, and new power supply. The ram is fine, along with the hard drive. Since he can't overclock the motherboard should be fine, but I don't know how high quality of boards Dell makes.

If he just wanted to future proof it more, then this would be a damn good setup. The 290 from XFX is such a kickass little card. Or he could go to gpushack.com and buy a refurbished 7950 for 140 bucks and still be set.

That's ridiculous. I've seen people run it on this psu a few times, or similar 650 watt ones. If it is necessary, then you can get an XFX 80+ gold fully modular for 91 bucks right now.

I understand.. I would personally recommend for him to go onto gpushack. Such a kick ass site with awesome reviews. You can also get cables for 50 cents after you purchase a gpu.

I might end up buying a gpu for my first build from them, unless I get a better deal on hardware swap over at reddit.
