G.SKill [TridentX] F3-2666C11D-16GTXD
EVGA Z97 FTW (142-HR-E977-KR)

This pairing is listed under the GSkill compatibility side
http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=60&chip=2146&model=2217

But not specifically on the EVGA side
http://www.evga.com/support/motherboard/
However they do list the 4x4 memory kit G.SKILL F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD which has all of the same specs except it is 4 units of 4 instead of 2 units of 8.

Who thinks I will have issues? Will I need to do anything special in the BIOS?

Thanks

You probably need to overclock the cpu to run that ram at those speeds, but before that could you pick a lower speed to make it run at.Getting ram at 2133mhz would likely just be working fine anyway. For both would XMP have to be enabled in the bios.

What if they are clocked down? What makes these questionable when compared to the 4 dimm kit above?

The sticks should be fine - the mobo makers simply test with whatever they have available, and have no with to try and test all sets (it's impossible unless you want to pay an extra or $100 or more per mobo ;) ). However the mobo is the small and easier part of the equation - to run 2666 you will want a K model CPU, and it will prob need at least a minor OC on it to run the sticks at 2666
