I have a WD 10EAC External Hard Drive. I tried uninstalling the driver software in device manager then rebooting, but it still didn't show up in This PC. I'm running WIndows 8.1 on an HP Pavilion Slimline Series S5-1414. The External Hard Drive shows up in Devices and Printers in Control Panel as My Book, but under properties it says not working properly. Please answer quickly I need the data in it by tomorrow.

Hey there, nshin313!

I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles with your WD My Book external.
I'd suggest to try to uninstall all the drivers under USB controller in Device Manager first. Here's a link that explains how to do this:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725782.aspx
After you've removed all the drivers, reboot your computer and then let Windows Updates take care of the reinstalling of the drivers automatically. Plug the external back in and see if that will get it recognized properly.
I'd also suggest to test the drive using Data LifeGuard Diagnostics tool to see what's health and S.M.A.R.T. status of the HDD.
