DNS Error on Home Wireless Network - laptop works fine with other wireless networks, and when hardwired. It has a good connection with router. Sometimes it sporadically works - for no apparent reason. I have cleaned my DNS Cache, tried to enter the DNS manually (it says they are all not valid - i have tried multiple options). I swapped out the Cable Modem. This problem also affects other computers, my tablet and iphone. Any ideas?

If it affects multiple devices, then it points to your router.
Have you contacted your ISP to see if they can help? They are the ones responsible for providing DNS, although you can input google or opendns addresses to bypass the ISP's dns servers.
Try inputting one (or more) of these DNS addresses in your router settings:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
208.67.220.220
208.67.222.222
The first 2 are google dns servers, the 3-4th are opendns server addresses.
I put one of googles, and one of opendns for mine, so if one goes down, the other is available. ISP provided DNS servers are sometimes flaky, which I think is what is happening to you.
In other words:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4
Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220 or 208.67.222.222
By putting them in the router settings, that means all your devices will use them too.
