Toshiba laptop won't let me update my graphics drivers

I've had my Toshiba Satelite L955 for a while now, but it won't let me install the latest Intel HD Graphics driver. It says that my laptop is not supported by the driver from Intel, even though I'm sure that it is. And the drivers on Toshiba's website are far out of date. I've tried the manual install method described plenty of times on the Intel forums, but it has never done anything on my laptop.

I'm currently on 10.18, and I want to upgrade to 15.33. Is there anything I can do to be able to upgrade?

If it says ti isn't, why are you sure it is?

I'm sure that it's supported because:

1. I have the Intel Core i5-3317U with Intel HD Graphics 4000, which is one of the supported chips for this driver.

2. This is a documented issue. Toshiba doesn't release updated drivers, and only allows installation of their own drivers.

I'm hoping to be able to install the driver without having to reinstall Windows, which is what I would be doing if all else fails.
