Upgraded to a 30 up/down broadband package today (local company, fast for my area). To mark the occasion I picked up a wired router (TL-R600VPN) to connect via ethernet 2 desktops, and eventually set up a wireless access point (haven't even touched it yet).
I had the tech "set up" the router since this is my first time working with static IPs, however, immediately after he was gone, we realized our desktops did not actually have internet access. I know. My HUGE fault for not checking before the tech left. If I plug one of the desktops directly into the modem, and set it up with the static IP (figured out how to do that at least), then I can access the internet on it. However, at its best, I can only get ~60 seconds of connectivity through the router to the PCs ONLY if I hard reset the modem. I believe I have set the static IP of the WAN correctly on the router.
Side note: The modem itself is not accessible. It is a part of the satellite on the roof that connects to the ISP's broadband network. The only thing I can do is hard reset it via a power box in the apartment.
We're now at a total loss after trying to fix the issue on our own.
EDIT: Just to be clear it's an external static IPAD provided by ISP.
