Is my MSI R9-290 and i5-4690 combo still a good combo? Or do i need to upgrade?

Almost everyone i know tells me i should get an i7 with a GTX 980 but as of now i can play every possible game at 40-100FPS at 1080p which is what i plan to play on 1080p for the next 3 years atleast than ill maybe switch to 4k and such. But as of now does my R9-290 and i5-4690 seem like an ok setup to play at 1080p, Ultra, and at 30+FPS for the next 2 years at least or longer?

Ok thanks so much guys! And one more question i am turning 21 this march on the 11th and i am buying a new heat ink for my CPU and i want the Cooler Master EVO 212 but i am afraid it iwll not fit due to my Rosewill challenger case and 2 120mm fans on the side panel :(

The 212 Evo is this big: http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/hyper-212-evo/.
You will either have to mount the side fans externally or remove them, they'll block the 212, or pretty well any other tower air cooler.
To measure the height of cooler you can fit into the case: Remove the side panel and CPU cooler. stretch a length of sticky tape across the opening to form a straight edge (hint, stick it to your palm first, that way it'll come off easily and won't tend to leave marks). Measure with either a tape measure or non conductive plastic or wooden ruler from the top of the CPU to the straight edge and subtract 5m.m. (this allows for the countersunk design of the side panel).
