I'm bad at these power supply stuffs so i wanna ask you guys whether my power supply will power either of these graphics card? My power supply http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/extreme/extreme-power-plus-500w/

Any chance of running R9 280x? I know its obvious it wont work but i've seen people saying they are running it on 450w power supply. I think they're lying. no?
Thanks in advance.

I have been using my current power supply for quite a long time and has no problems at all. Seems pretty solid to me. Why people say its bad?

Dude it`s not an absolute can`t... you may be able to run a 280 on it but when it gets really busy I`m most certain they the PC will shut down... But the 960 is extremely power efficient so it will run no problem!!

I would say to stay away from that PSU all together and just get a nice quality 550W+ and you`ll be fine...

I appreciate the fast replies but how about the GTX 760? I dont think the 960 is worth it since it has 128 bit and only have a little increase in performance from the 760.

I think a 500W PSU can run the R9 280. I have seen 350W PSU running GTX 650 Ti model, you never know. If you have it already, just run the 280 on that PSU. If you run into problem, then you can consider upgrade to a new PSU. If you have not buy the PSU, then you should look into buying a better on instead.

If you look at the specs for that power supply it has 2 12V rails, both rated at 18A. 12V is what GPUs run on, so when you look for a new power supply look for one with one with a better 12V rating, preferably a single rail, you can tell because the specs will only have one number for +12V.

Saying that the Geforce GTX 960 is about a 100W card so that should be fine. 280s can draw as much as 250W so don't buy one of those.

Okay dude first of all you don`t chose a 760 over a 960 except if you already have 760... The 960 is better in every way and has newer tech than the 760! The bit rate means nothing is this tier of GPU, if your not going 280 then you must go 960 over 760 or you will regret it later on...
