Hello, I am using this wireless adapter to connect to my household network:

http://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-adapters/A6100.aspx

Sometimes it works fine. But other times, my connection center on Windows tells me that I'm connected to the network, but have no internet access. This would lead me to believe that it's a problem with my router, except that even when my desktop gives me that "no internet access" message, my other wifi devices have no problem picking up the signal.

According to the the FAQs on the netgear link i posted above, the adapter works on both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz. I am also using a wireless mouse that runs at 2.4 GHz. Could this be causing interference? If so, is there a way to make my adapter/router ONLY run at 5.0 GHz, and if so, would changing those settings on my router affect other computers on the network?

Well first off, if you are connected to a 5.0 band network, interference on the 2.4 band would not cause you to get kicked off the 5.0 band.

How far are your from the router?
Tiny usb adapter = tiny little antenna, and then there is the simple fact that usb adapters don't have the same output power as the internal cards do.

You could have gotten a tp-link powerline adapter that would have better real world speed and cost less.

Your mouse is not going to cause the interference.

It sounds to me like you are either not maintaining a strong enough connection to your router because of placement or some EMI or maybe you have a router issue.

Try to narrow the cause by connecting to the router by Ethernet. If you loose connection then you know most likely its a router problem. If you are only loosing connection while on WiFi then its most likely a signal problem.

Try re-positioning the router; try updating firmware; try resetting the router; also from your host at the command line try:

ipconifg /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

You could also download a program like InSSIDer Home to evaluate signal strength, propagation and band saturation.
