Hello
I got me a asrock z97 extreme today. After powering up i got the error that i have to plug in the 4pin. After googling a bit i found out that the asrock boards have additional power sockets for pci. It looks like a old hard drive 4-pin power socket.
So after connecting the 4-pin the board finally is booting properly. Now to the problem!!
The plug can be found on the bottom of the mainboard. If i plug it im not able to fit the PSU in my computer case anymore! My computer case is a normal ATX normed Mid Tower. Thus getting a new midtower with the psu located at the bottom will probably never fit this mainboard due to the plug that is just not fitting between the psu and the board.
So my question is, does the board really need this additional power or can i turn it off in bios? If i can do this would the board still be functional? I never had a Asrock board. Usually i go with Asus and i so far have never heard of a board requiring a separate power socket for the PCIe slots?
Thanks for you help
