I was playing Diablo 3 last night with some friends. I got up to get some more water, and my screen was black. I could hear my friends talking on TeamSpeak but, they could not hear me. I restarted my computer and while the windows starts to come up I had a blue bar around 2-3" on either side. Once the windows logo disappears I just get a textured blue screen with fine vertical line's. I would suspect it's something p.c. related as it's an older build, and the monitor is only about a year old.

OS..Windows 7 64
Mobo..AS ROCK N68C-Star
Ram..Corsair Vengeance 2x4
Psu..Antec 750 watt Bronze
Graphics..ATI Radeon HD6870
Processor. .A MD Phenom 2 x4 90
Bios version..N68C-S UCC P1.50

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could be a possible video card or RAM issue. Since you stated that the screen had a textured blue screen (not to be confused with the BSOD), I would assume video card. Does this happen everytime or sometimes? If possible, post screenshots of the display and other issues that pertain to it.

Here are two pictures that I took with my phone. The blue screen is definitely not the BSOD.

If it does happen to be the GPU would you be able to suggest a suitable used, or relatively inexpensive replacement? Plan to build a new p.c. in the next year or so, and would hate to waste money on a new card.

That could resolve the issue you are having. Also, try ctrl+alt+del to get out of that screen and see if it reboots. I personally have an issue with my motherboard booting into a blue screen then I have to do the ctrl+alt+del and boots into the OS correctly.

If that doesn't work, here is a $32 GPU to check if it still does it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130606

I picked up a used card from a friend yesterday to see if it would fix the issue. The card is a PCI 3 vs. my mobo only being a 2 but, it fixed my issue. Thank you for all the help :D
