which is a better graphics card the gtx 960 or gtx 770 , im looking for graphics that can beat ps4
at the prics of this 2

Solution
@ johnbarrera: Modular means not all the cables are permanently attached, the one I linked has only the main motherboard and CPU cables permanently attached, the Strider ST50 is not modular, compare their Newegg photos, you'll soon see the difference. All those unwanted cables on the Strider will not just clutter the case up, they will badly disrupt the airflow, sounds stupid that a few cables can do this but it's true, especially in a small case.

There is a third option for the graphics upgrade: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133579 this type of card isn't as compact as some (it's 9.5" or about 29cm long) but as you can see will pump all its heat out of the case so ventilation isn't much of an issue.

i dont know much about pcs but this are my specs

cpu intel i7 4770
ram 12 gb
sata 3 hdd 2 t
and i have a gtx 745 oem which is rubbish so im looking to upgrade, my rig
i know will need a new power supply but my budget is very low what should i do first get a gaming case , then power supply then graphics card?

We need to know exactly what OEM system you have and what power supply is installed, a lot of Dell XPS machines ship with decent sized cases and a power supply that can run a GTX960 for example.
The GTX960 is capable of playing most games at high or even max settings on a 1080 display, the GTX770 is slightly more powerful, but not by much so it may be better to get the newer card and 'sacrifice' a few FPS if it means keeping the existing case and power supply.

to beging with is a tc-605 acer aspire i have a mini atx motherborad build by acer and the power supply is 230 w

The current 230Watt power supply will not have enough power or power leads to run an upgraded graphics card so it will be vital to change the power supply, which must be done first.
I don't think it will be necessary to change the current case, it's a fairly standard sized mini tower so it should accept any standard sized power supply and the shorter versions of the GTX960.
Being a small case I'll strongly advise you to look for a fully modular or semi modular power supply of 450 to 500Watts output, more would be pointless. Look for a quality unit from: Antec, Seasonic, Silverstone, FPS (Aurium series), XFX (Pro series), Corsair (but try to avoid the 'CX' and 'VS' series) or Superflower. Do not be tempted into purchasing a cheap 'high output' unit, they're cheap because they're bad.
At least three companies make compact versions of the GTX960; Asus, Gigabyte and EVGA and they look perfect for your system: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487093
Not too expensive for a modular unit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371058

thanks so much this really helps so you think for me and my budget is better the gtx 960 than the 770, also what does semi modular and fully modular mean , i know your suggesting that my case is good enought but with a high power supply and the new graphics card isnt gonna need a better air flow i mean isnt it gonna get hot in there?

found this power supply what you think (http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256103&cm_re=Silverstone_ST50F-ES_Strider_500W_Power_Supply-_-17-256-103-_-Product)

also what does it mean when it say haswell support?

with this graphics card, and my new power supply with the graphics come anywhere close as the ps4 or xbox one graphics?
also after upgrading this components , in the forseeing future what would i need to upgrade again to a better graphics card, would i need to change the mother board , and maybe a bigger case?, i really dont like my case is it asential that i keep it or can i get a bigger one or is it pointless for now as i have a mini motherboard?

For one, this setup is far more capable than a PS4 or Xbox. The consoles are highly optimized and games are developed for them specifically. However RAW power, your PC runs rings around both.

I think before you upgrade your GPU, you will be looking at upgrading the system as a whole. The base components in pre built systems are never very good bases, especially not to evolve your system. As it is your system could take a better card even now, after the PSU upgrade.

When the time comes, consult the board again for the best advice, relevant to the time.

Sure.

Bear in mind...the better the supply you get now...the higher the chance you can reuse it later.

If you went for something more powerful with bronze, gold, platinum certification you will very likely be able to transplant and use it in a more powerful future system.

For your needs right now, that is more than enough and will do the job well.

From the specs I can see the base system is actually very good: The i7 4770 is a hugely powerful CPU and you have a massive 12Gb of installed RAM, making your setup a bit stronger than mine, so don't worry about needing to upgrade anything else in the future, with a new power supply and graphics upgrade the system should really fly.

Coozie just one more question I have seen people overcloocking the gtx 960 but the bigger version, now the compact gtx 960 would I be able to overcloock it as well or maybe because it doesn't have a bigger cooling unit I won't be able to

You'll be able to overclock but it's always a lottery, some cards overclock well, others do not, all you can do is try and see what happens.
Be aware that Maxwell cored chips like the GTX960 have a 80C limit and will slow themselves down to keep to that temperature, it doesn't matter what speed you set, if the card gets close to this temperature it WILL slow down to compensate and keep itself below that temperature.
There is several guides to overclocking these cards, this one deals with a GTX980 but the principles are the same: http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/1680-overclocking-gtx-980-maxwell-tutorial
And the Golden Rule: If you don't know what you're doing, leave it alone! Do some research, post in the many tech forums out there and learn, and if you're too impatient to do that (like me ;) ) DON'T touch the voltage settings, you should be able to recover from errors elsewhere but pushing the voltage too high can instantly fry the card.

I have done a hit of over clocking on my current card , using MSI afterbun
On this card I can't move the voltage only the core speed and memory I have gained about 2% performance but it does get a bit hot I also allow the fans on auto so the kick in from the start of the process I have a little knowledge but I guess find out and see
