I own a Seagate backup plus portable hard drive. Model:SRD0SP0 PN:1D8Ap8-500 SN: NA52CPZ6.
Desktop runs windows 7
Laptop runs windows 8
Now whats going on:
first I tried to watch a movie form it, like instead of moving files and what not I just let it plugged in and played a movie from it. Well next thing I know, the movie freezes after like ten seconds, and the program I was using to watch it on stopped responding. I waited 5 minutes before I force closed it.
When I went back to try to watch it again, suddenly nothing would play from it so I was like "Ok I'll just restart the computer." Restarted the computer.
It didn't show up... at all... so I went to device manager and it was labeled as an unknown device, having had this issue before I knew what to do. I unsintalled the drivers restarted the computer and watched as it tried to reinstall. But the reinstall of the drivers failed for some reason, nothing was touched or moved. When I went back to device manager, it was no longer showing up.
So I took it to my laptop, it doesn't work there either. I tried all 3 ports on my laptop and all 6 on the computer, 3 in front, 3 in back, nothing worked.
When I tried to look up the drivers on the main seagate site, they didn't have them, which is odd.
So I started looking on the web for a solution, I found one that had you go into command prompt and type in: set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 then to show the hidden usb things in the device manager and uninstalled the rivers again.
Restarted the computer, still nothing... And now even with typing in said stuff above, it doesn't show, liek it completely doesn't exist.
I know it's on because the light on it is flashing and blinking and staying steady like it's thinking... But it doesn't show up anywhere. Any solutions for this? I have a lot of important information on it I would like to get back sinc eI don't have it saved anywhere else.
