My Case - Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 RED LED Black ATX Mid Tower
CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W
MSI 280x 3GB PGU

Wondering if I should live stream straight off this PC, or will it be better to buy an Elgato Game Capture and live stream my PC games from my laptop. I'm using obs and ethernet on both my laptop and my desktop.

Laptop specs:
A10 AMD processor
8GB ram
1TB HDD

I heard that I will get frame drops while streaming, but that would save me $100 if I don't have to get the Elgato, lol. :)

The desktop setup I like. The Elgato setup I will use if I really need to. Thanks for making my mind up! Lol. :)

Now, I don't think you understood. I want to know if I should stream from my PC to my laptop to twitch, not from a console.. I don't play console.

Haha, more convenient, yes. As I worry about frames.. I still need to think more about the laptop route, I know many HUGE streamers use the double PC route, but they build a PC for $1k just to do the streaming, my gaming pc costs just about that much, if not less.. HAHA :p

That is true, I was just wondering what others will think.. This laptop is just laying around not being used so I thought I might use it to have a better stream... maybe even better video recording. I will think about it, there is many complications on the audio for secondary PC streaming so it's not the best route. Once I figure it all out I'll update you just cause :D .. I found a like new Elgato in my area on Craigslist for $100.. still has the plastic on it.

If you are serious about getting an elgato get the HD60 for 60 fps and use it off your laptop to record and stream gameplay from your PC. Just makes it so much easier since you can monitor twitch and recording on the laptop without having to minimize your game. Ive been using just my PC and you can make it work but you can be more productive by using the laptop.

But hold off on that!!!

The only problem is your laptop CPU is AMD and I see not mention of it in the requirements for the HD60. They want at least 2nd gen i5 for recording and 2nd gen i7 at least 2GHz for streaming. I can send technical support an email asking if your laptop is ok, just need to know the exact laptop you have. Will get back to you as they get back to me.

I asked but your CPU is similar to a Core i3-2330M so its a long shot. i'll here back from them by the end of the week. Looks like you have to use it on your desktop and just leave it windowed or borderless mode. Not the end of the world, just annoying. Theres almost no hit on performance if you go with it.

I think there is a Game Mode in OBS... so I will use that if my laptop is not to standards. I am going to start Live Streaming once my office if remodeled most likely, or once GTA 5 comes out for PC.

• Windows 7, Windows 8 or later for version 1.x of Elgato Game Capture HD software.
• Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows 8, or later for version 2.0 (or later) of Elgato Game Capture HD software.
• 2 Ghz (or higher, before any boost or burst mode) dual core CPU, or 2 Ghz (or higher, before Turbo Boost) multi-core i3, i5 or i7 CPU
• Sound card (if your laptop can play sound, then it meets this requirement)
• 4GB Total Installed RAM (or higher)
• Built-in USB 2.0 port

It looks like it will run. I have over 2 ghz quad core. I have 8GB ram.

Elgato got back to me, here is the email:

Thank you for contacting Elgato Systems.

To use the basic functionality of Elgato Game Capture HD60, including 1080p60 capture, you need a good i5 processor.

Thus, your AMD A10-5750M 2.5 GHz processor is not fast enough.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+A10-5750M+APU

It's around 3400 in the benchmarks, while a minimally supported i5 is around 4000.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-3320M+%40+2.60GHz

Adding more RAM won't help in this case.

However, this processor is perfectly fine for use with the original Elgato Game Capture HD, for recording and standard Live Streaming.

Stream Command (using a web cam and overlays) won't work unless you have a fast i7 processor - that won't work on your computer. However, you could use 3rd party software like OBS to help you stream, if you want.

I was only planning on 720p streaming with OBS of course.
