Hey,
So I work at an animal clinic and the building is older. Thick plaster/cement walls. Im all the way in the back on the main computer where the router is located. It is Netgear N300 wireless router. Im trying to get the network and wifi up to the front of the building which is about 150 feet away from me. Like I said there are thick walls throughout the building. I still maintain an excellent signal halfway but as soon as I get to the front of building completely lost. Im not sure what the best option would be to get the wifi up there. I have considered running an Ethernet cable up there but we still need wifi to get to our first exam room. We will most likely using tablets also. Or would a wifi extender be enough to make a difference? Powerline? Ive also noticed that the wireless extenders have an Ethernet port. So if I ran an Ethernet cable to the front and plugged it into the extender would that provide a better wifi signal also? So confused. Too many options and not sure what will get the job done. if anyone can help id appreciate it.

Yes if you could get an ethernet cable up to the front, that would be the best way to connect an access point.

Otherwise you could try a powerline extender. You'd get an access point as well as 2 ethernet ports with this kit. You can add more extenders later if you want: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704197 they are a bit cheaper via Costco.com if you are a Costco member.

Or you could try moving the router a bit closer to the front, or upgrade it to a more powerful device. Netgear Nighthawk R7000 are down a bit in price, and they have great range.

I would personally get a moderate repeater. You can pick one up for around $70.00-$100.00 for a decent one. Running an ethernet can be costly due to the fact that you'd have to run it to the front which is about 150 feet you said. So buying a repeater would be a lot more simple and less of a cost. But at the same time its still not a bad idea to run an ethernet connection up to the front as a dedicated connection and branch it off through a port. Honestly if you have a nice budget then do both since you are using tablets and you might need a hardline up from soon.

PS. you can get a port for roughly $30.00-$60.00 for a decent one. (5-8 port)
