Greetings!

I'm new to overclocking so if I'm asking stupid questions I really do apologize.

I just built a new PC (I use the PC for gaming, video editing, watching videos, etc)

Here are the specs:

AsRock 970 PRO3 AM3+
AMD FX-6300
Pareema 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600
Asus Strix GTX970
WD 1TB SATA HDD
500W Power Supply

I did a lot of research and I found that I could overclock the CPU. In fact the ASUS MB BIOS has a nice UEFI interface and gives me the option to manually overclock. I adjusted the speed of the CPU for 4GHZ but when I save the changes and it boots up I get no display. The display might come up for a minute but then it will go black. The monitor is blue (telling me it's on) and I can see the network icon but nothing else. It's really weird.

I'm positive I'm doing something wrong, I'm just not sure what.

Any help you can give me would be most appreciated!

That is probably the result of an unstable OC. Boot to BIOS and Reset back to default. Then stop using the "quickie" OC. OC'ing is a tedious process for a reason. Best to be done in BIOS by starting out with the CPU multiplier alone. One click at a time. Testing for stability and temps between increases.
