I recently purchased a Belkin USB wireless network adapter to hook up to an old work pc so we don't have to run cables around. When I plugged it in and downloaded the drivers, I was able to connect to the work network fine. But when I went to Internet explorer or google chrome, I couldn't get to any internet sites. I then tried connecting to a separate network we have for guests and I connected fine and was sent straight on to the internet.

I thought, maybe it's a problem with the USB adapter being incompatible with our network, so I returned it to the store and got an ASUS USB-N13 adapter. I plugged it in, installed the drivers and I got to the exact same point. Our main work network can't get on the internet, but the guest wifi can.

I've seen other posts where it was suggested to use 8.8.8.8 in the DNS field, but our network is not DHCP, so I have preset numbers for the IP/Subnet/DNS... [Yes, I made sure I typed those in correctly]. Another post suggested checking the "automatically detect settings" box in the 'LAN Settings' on the 'Connections' tab of the Internet Options menu. I've done that but to no avail.

The only things I can think it MIGHT be would be a setting hidden somewhere in the computer, or a setting on our router. But I'm at a loss as to what setting to be looking for. I really don't want to "play around" with the router settings to try and find it, cause a lot worse things can happen and most likely will happen if I do.

Any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated.
