Hi guys,

I have been using my computer this whole week, including yesterday. When i powered it on this morning it booted up as normal, but after I was passed the windows icon/loading screen and was in the intermission to logging in to my computer the signal between my graphics card and my monitor was lost.

Here's what I have so far as to help you guys help me figure this out.

1. My DVI to HDMI chord is a bit worn, the adapter on the HDMI itself has come out of the rubber mold that originally sat in. It has not worked before, but after wiggling it a bit it has always connected. So im not too sure if this is the problem, but considering the ubruptness of the problem, its the most likely cause of the problem.

2. My monitor- I have only had this monitor for 2 1/2 months, it has not had any problems, I did not drop it or give any reason as to why it would not work perfectly fine, so I think this is the least likely problem. It may be, but I have nothing to give you guys as to why it would be(not ruling it out).

3. Graphics Card- My graphics card is a GTX 650 2gb EVGA. It is a refurbished card that I have had for a while. I don't think it would die on me so ubrubtly. The thing is, because i had a signal during boot up I was able to get into my BIOS settings, and I was going to attempt to log in in safe mode. While in my BIOS settings though, my resolution was all jacked up, i could only see about 45-55% of the screen and could not see most everything. So that being said it does lead me to believe it is my graphics card a bit more, because my resolution being off like that wouldn't have anything to do with the monitor or the chord right?

I really do hope that its not the graphics card as that is the biggest/most expensive reason.

Thanks for the responses :)

Probably the HDMI.

You can get a new cable for pretty cheap: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-HDMI-DVI-Adapter-Cable/dp/B001TH7T2U/ref=lp_202505011_1_4?s=audio-video-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1425496504&sr=1-4

It's likely because the signal between the HDMI to DVI through the HDMI to DVI adapter is being lost, though the reasons you have already listed.

Why are you using HDMI though? Is it a TV?

I would just get a DVI cable.
