Ok, so I have a Western Digital Portable Hard Drive, which I am fairly certain the circuit board is bad. Now, I know the surefire solution, is to transfer the firmware chips to a healthy donor circuit board. I can afford a firmware transfer, but I really want to avoid having to send my bad circuit board out of state. However, I have confirmed, that if I can find the exact same model with a same month release date, I can do a pcb swap without having to do a firmware chip transfer.

This is my drive:

P/N: WDBBEP0010BBK-01 S/N: WXD1A72J5661
Circuit Board Model Number: 2060-771814-001 REV A
The drive's release date was August 10, 2012.

I have made 2 attempts to order the correct model, (Amazon 1st attempt, Newegg 2nd attempt), but both times, the retarded sellers sent me the WRONG model (a 2014 My Passport Ultra). Needless to say, I know it will not be compatible. Still, I was upset enough having to ship back the first order, so I have decided to keep this My Passport Ultra. Despite NOT fulfilling my immediate need, I like the slimmer form factor, and I do need a fresh drive to transfer my retrieved files to.

So, can anyone PLEASE help me in one of 2 ways: 1) help me find the exact hard drive model with a same month release date, or 2) help me find my PCB with the firmware version I need.
This is the firmware number (I think): XTCZ05 X4GS

And, if possible, how can I make sure that a seller will send me the correct model?

Hey there, goldensun87!

I'm very sorry to hear about your issues with the WD My Passport. :(
You've definitely gone through quite the trouble to troubleshoot and revive your external drive.
I think that you should get in touch with our technical support and let them know about this. I believe they will be able to help you with the precise steps and solutions. Instead of dealing with the retailers, go straight to the manufacturer! :)

Hope I was helpful!

Will they be able to provide or lead me to a PCB with the firmware chip I need? This version of the My Passport is discontinued now. Should I ask my question on the Western Digital Support Forum?

Yes, goldensun87! Our tech support might be able to help you with the firmware.
However, the official WD Community Forum is a place where you and other users can talk to one another about WD products and services. You can ask questions, post information, opinions, and tips, and swap ideas with other users, but the moderators of the community seldom get involved in the discussions and provide support.
You can contact the official tech support either by phone or e-mail here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=dFd0Tv

[EDIT:] However, you should know that Western Digital does not sell or replace circuit boards for our HDDs. I do recommend you to turn to a professional data recovery company for help though.
