Long story short i have a computer that does not have a hdmi out i put a gt 720 in and it works fine but has no audio through hdmi with out the drivers. So i install the drivers and my screen randomly goes crazy until i turn off my screen and then turn it back on. So, i believe i need a new gpu correct? BUT im poor as hell (college, part time worker, mortgage) So i have resolved to just leave it with out the drivers installed so it will output video and just use headphones or speakers with a 3.5mm jack. Which all leads me to my question. Will the hd 4600 integrated graphics still be whats used even though the monitor is hooked up to the gt 720? I will be using this for visual basic, some photoshop, eclipse will the hd 4600 be enough or should i just buy a 740 or something?

Also is it possible to install JUST the nvidia audio driver? I tried to do it just through the installer but i could not unselect "graphics drivers"

Solution
If your monitor is plugged into the GT 720, that is what will be outputting video. As far as audio, as long as you are plugged into your headphone jacks, the on-board sound chip will be your sound.

But the driver issue may be easily remedied. You might have driver conflicts. Run DDU from safe mode and remove any AMD or Nvidia driver it finds. Then boot up and run CCleaner. Do the Clean and Registry portions both. Then install the latest driver for the GT 720.

I will certainly give that a shot but do you think that would be the case since this is a fresh install on factory hp?

It all depends on how messed up Win (7?) was before you installed the card. Sometimes the system can fill up with garbage and cause program and driver conflicts, and registry errors. it is best to eliminate any of that first.

After cleaning the old driver and running CCleaner, set your screen resolution to what your monitor is and run with the default Win driver for a bit to be sure there are no other issues. If all looks normal, install the driver for the card from the site above.
