I have seen many posts on similar issues but none of the suggested fixes worked. I have a Sony Vaio SVE15115FXS Windows 7 (64 bit) laptop, I have Norton Security Suite/Firewall, I have 2 of my own wireless network routers (Cisco-Linksys & Comcast). 2 things happened rt before issue started:
1.) My sister tried using my wireless password on her Iphone 2.) My LT shut down suddenly from overheated CPU (which happened many times before w/out causing this issue). Once I rebooted from the sudden shut down there was a red X over wireless icon (bottom rt corner) "No connections avail".
Here is everything I have tried so far:
I clicked on "Troubleshooting" which cannot identify the issue. I rebooted lt again as well as the Linksys Wireless router to no avail. I tried to restore computer to hrs prior to issue starting - restore did not work (error msg I did not write down), I went into Device Mgr and made sure the Atheros Wireless adaptor was enabled and it is. I've googled every poss fix and still have not found way to fix this issue. PLS help! My Dell laptop is still working and detecting multiple wireless networks. PLEASE HELP!

Hello Heljo33,

Did you see this post?

I noted that you tried a restore that did not work. However, I just want to make sure that you did not miss out on reloading the Atheros drivers somewhere along the way. (Side note: if possible, try the restore again and capture the error message. The error message could be an important clue to help someone in this forum help you.)

That said, I am wondering about the overheating CPU. Heat damages electronics and although your Sony laptop survived (i.e.," many times w/out causing this issue") your luck may have run out.

Not sure about the proximately of CPU to the Atheros wireless adapter - maybe the overheating...

Not sure about the proximately of CPU to the Atheros wireless adapter - maybe the overheating got to the wireless adapter first.

Have you been able to try connecting using another wireless adapter? Maybe a USB wireless adapter if you can buy or borrow one.

Take care,
