Ok so here is my problem. My computer uses a sabertooth 990fx mother board with an otc revo SSD drive in raid 0 and 3 western digital drives in raid 5. A few weeks ago an update was applied to Asmedia asm sata host controller and my raid 5 array disappeared in windows. My bios could see it when booting up but after that it was like it was never there. I would have done a system restore but those files were stored on the raid 5. After manually rolling back the driver and much *%#$ing around I was able to get windows to see the drive again but apparently the file structure was not recognized. My raid 0 was designated as c drive and my raid 5 was e. When I try to access e drive it says I need to format drive e before it can be used. I used "I care data recovery" to scan the drive and found all of my files intact. I copied my recovery files to another disk(now designated drive f). I did everything I could think of to get system recovery to look on drive f for the files but every time I try a pre computer %$#& up point is says it can not find the file. Any help would be much appreciated because I'm out of ideas. Thanks.

Most likely the RAID drivers was change - since you have software RAID.
Look for the older driver of ASM and Mobo RAID, most likely you will see the content again...
Once recover, use separate hw raid, so the OS update wont affect the RAID
