usb 2.0 flash drive not working on windows xp.

Are other devices working on that port? Does the USB hub controller show as working normal under Device Manager? In Device Manager, you might want to have Windows search for latest driver and update. If all this is good, please provide model of the flash drive.

Hi there dlove,
You can uninstall the device in Device Manager -> unplug it -> reboot -> plug the flash drive back and wait to automatically install.
If this doesn't work, try it on anther system. This way you will kind of narrow the possibilities of what is causing the problem(system or flash drive itself).
It may be a good idea to update all your drivers as George Mulligan already suggested.
