I've gotten many different answers ranging from 1400 w to 800 w
Right now my build is as follows:
Amd fx 9590
Corsair h100i
4x 8gb ddr3 ram
Asus crosshair v formula z
3x GTX 980 sli
4x western digital caviar black
2x Samsung ssd 840 evo
Raid controller
Dvd drive.

My case has 7 fans and I can't seem to get a straight answer. Thank you very much to anyone that can help

Take a look at the linked chart above: The recommended minimum power for a system with 3 GTX980's in SLI is 950 watts, and the power supply needs to have 6 x 6pin PCIE power connectors. I would consider that a pretty good minimum requirement if you have the 9590 as that is a power hungry CPU: The recommended power listings are generally based on a PC with an i7 CPU and they don't max out over 100watts in newer models (usually much less) while that 9590 is a 200watt beast.
Any name brand PSU from Tier 1, or 2a in the attached link/list should be sufficient, and if it were I, I would consider a 1000 watt unit, maybe more. You have a lot of stuff in that PC...

Darn, 3x 980s will need a ton of power. I'd get 1000w or higher, with good efficiency. If it was me, I'd get the best I could find at a semi-reasonable price. Also, get an i7, not AMD for high end builds.
