I was just going to try a different power supply to see if that's the issue.

Is it possible my motherboard or CPU is defective?

Solution
Reset the motherboard's BIOS to defaults; make sure it is not overvolting your APU. Make sure your current BIOS version properly supports that APU, if not you'll need to update it.

I set it to defaults, and have upgraded my bios to the latest version which supports my APU. The version it says it needs is 1301, AMD recommended the 1703 which supports the 860k and add some stability improvements.

Sooooo reading around I found out HW monitor is not a good program to use for APU's. And that you should solely use AMD overdrive utility. Although it doesn't tell me my temperature, it just gives me a "thermal margin" which is how many degrees Is between my current temp and the limit for my APU. In my case I'm 70 degree Celsius away from my max temp.

Do I have that right?
