Hello, this is my first post (although I have read many help threads on here), and I apologise if I've posted it in the wrong thread. Please move if you are able to do so, or tell me where to move it to.

Right, so here's some background. PC specs: motherboard as above, AMD FX8120 stock speeds and cooler, AMD XFX7850 2GB core edition, Windows 7 on one HDD, Windows 8.1 on the other, PSU is a novatech 500W, Ballistix sport 2x 4GB. So some background. I've had the PC almost two years, it was built locally, and I have since taken it apart/added things to do it as I learn more about PCs. Ever since I started trying to access my BIOS I haven't been able to. It would return a blank screen or I'd freeze on the "American Megatrends" screen. It never really bothered me as I didn't really need it.

So here's my problem. I recently wiped my SSD of Windows 7 (reinstalled windows 7 on my HDD after), then I burned the Windows 10 Tech Preview to a disk to test on my SSD. Upon booting with SSD and Optical drive installed, I was prompted with a "Press any key to boot from disk" screen. Surprise surprise, I press a key and it freezes. So, I Google it. Found a few articles on this site regarding possible fixes. Most people suggested pulling the CMOS battery out to reset my BIOS. So, I try it. Here's where I'm at now. Now, when I turn on my PC I get the "American Megatrends" screen, and it says "Press F1 to enter setup". Guess what? I press F1 and my PC freezes. It stays there for hours, never moving. I attempt to boot back in to Windows 7 on my HDD...and it hangs at the same screen. I don't know if its trying to load Win7 and freezes, or if I need to access BIOS first to set it up. Either way, I'm stuck at this screen. Same story for attempting to boot to Win8.1 HDD. If I attempt to mash F1 before the screen, I just get stuck on the pre-"American megatrends" blank screen. Forever.

If anyone could shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it. I can't afford to replace any parts really, but obviously I'll look into it as a last resort. Thanks in advance.

Managed to get another M5A97 LE R2.0 from a friend (was trying to sell it, but sold it to me for cheap). Replaced it, and it's working as normal now. Not sure what went wrong. I will be contacting Asus as I haven't had the mobo that long to see what they will. Thanks for all the help though!

That's odd. Try removing sticks and testing to see if one of the RAM sticks is the problem. Report back if it doesn't work.
