How important is it to have matching cards for SLI?

Thinking of SLI-ing the 760 I currently have installed.
760s are getting difficult to find.
Finding the exact same card as I have installed is not easy.
How important is it to have two of the exact same cards?
How much of a effect does not having two of the same card, or even same chip, have?
How much benefit do you get by mixing and matching chips (One 7 series card + one 9 series card)?

Thanks!

Solution
They don't need to be exactly alike, just the same model. For instance, you could SLI an MSI GTX760 3GB model with an EVGA GTX760 2GB model.

The card has to be the exact same chip. Aka an EVGA GTX 760 will SLI with an MSI GTX 760, because they have the same chip.

However, you can not SLI a 760 with say, a 960. Will not work at all.

So in short, any brand GTX 760 will SLI with your current, with the cards matching whichever has the lowest speed settings.

From Geforce:

" Can I mix and match graphics cards that have different GPUs?

No. For example, an XXXGT cannot be paired with a XXXGTX in an SLI configuration.

Can I mix and match graphics cards from different manufacturers?

Using 180 or later graphics drivers, NVIDIA graphics cards from different manufacturers can be used together in an SLI configuration. For example, a GeForce XXXGT from manufacturer ABC can be matched with a GeForce XXXGT from manufacturer XYZ.

Can I mix and match graphics cards if one of them is overclocked by the manufacturer?

Yes. A GeForce XXXX GTX that is overclocked can be mixed with a standard clocked GeForce XXXX GTX. "
