Hey guys,

I just did an upgrade to my computer and I'm needing some advice to continue upgrading.
I'm trying to get my computer to run higher end games such as Far Cry 4 on higher settings

My Question is should I get a Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 Toxic edition or get an AMD radeon r9 280x?

My main concern is performance and power usage - I'm not sure if my psu can take on a R9 280x based on Newegg's power calculator

but heres my build and let me know what you think

Zalman Z3 Plus case with 5 case fans
3 x WD Caviar Black 500 gb HDDs
2x Corsair Vengance 4gb ddr3 ram
EVGA 750 G2 full modular power supply
AMD FX 8350
ASRock 990FX Killer Motherboard
Sapphire AMD Radeon 6850 Toxic edition
DVD-RW drive

Solution
Get the 280x it is over 2x as powerful as the 6850. Not to mention 3 years newer. Plus two 6850s will use the same amount of power as a 280x anyway, more than likely.

Your PSU is MUCH more than enough. No problem.

Your PSU is fine for single gpu usage with AMD GPU'S. r9 280x over the hd6950 for sure. If it is affordable I would consider also the r9 290 for that little extra future proofing.

Ok, I was only wondering because on neweggs power supply calculator the recommended wattage is over 900, with two 6850's its still under 700w - is there calculator bogus?

Also, i can pick up a second 6850 for about 90 bucks whereas my other options are $200+

Yes the calculator is crap, like 95% of them.

two 6850s will be beaten by a single 280x and you will be stuck with only one 6850 is games with poorly optimized crossfire profiles.

$90 is WAY too much for a used 6850. You can get a 7850 for $75. A 6850 should cost you $50 and no more.

Your wasting your time trying to crossfire. Not worth it and much higher power consumption for something obsolete.
Get the r9 280x it will outperform crossfire 6950's. BTW two HD7850 in crossfire require 1000W PSU.
