What GPU do you recommend for me?

Hello,

Here are my specs
AMD A10-5700 quadcore
3.4 GHz
8GB memory installed
PSU will be dependent on the GPU I get

What GPU should I get? I'll probably stick to only 1080p for now. I'm planning on getting a new CPU when the next tier comes out but for now I want to stick with the one I have. My current CPU isn't that bad http://www.techspot.com/review/734-battlefield-4-benchmarks/page6.html. So I don't mind overpaying for a GPU as I'll use it in the future when I upgrade my mobo and CPU. I don't want to worry about dropping below 60 FPS on Ultra. I'm contemplating between the r9 290x and the gtx 970. I was leaning towards the r9 290x because I believe Mantle will help my CPU right (but maybe that isn't an issue in the future since DX12 will be trying to reduce CPU bottleneck as well)? I have seen from benchmarks that the r9 290x doesn't have as stable of frame rate as the gtx 970 has and it also is hotter.

Recommendations? Again, I don't want to upgrade my CPU or mobo yet and I don't mind overpaying if it means assurance at 60FPS.

EDIT: I'm getting out of school at the end of April so I don't expect to buy until then. Hoping the price of the r9 290x will drop by then bc of the new amd release coming soon.

And I'm a gamer.

Go for 290X then. It's a great card and mantle would help you out until you got a new CPU.

Here's the thing, I will probably go higher in the future and I don't plan on changing my gpu any time soon after this buy. I don't want res to be the main reason for this buy.

Slightly bottlenecked but good enough for now http://www.techspot.com/review/734-battlefield-4-benchmarks/page6.html. Mantle should help out if I get the r9 290x though

That's what I was thinking. I'm just worried about the heat, size, large PSU, and the fluctuating frame rate. How hot does it get? I'm thinking of opening my case and putting a fan right by it because my ventilation is a little bit of an issue. Do you play on 60hz or 120hz+? I'll only be on 60hz for now. Any PSU recommendations?

Since you have plans upgrading the cpu soon and don't mind bottleneck, r9 290x will be good for your cpu. Mantle supported games will help your cpu lessen the bottleneck. Mantle supported games are still few though but r9 290x will perform as good with directx.

If you're worried about heat than go for 970. As for PSU's go one of the Seasonic, EVGA, Corsair or Antec units. I game on 60hz but I game @ 1440P and I have two 290's. You'll be good @ 1080P with a single 290X.

I was looking at an XFX 650W 80+ Bronze. But you'd go with a different brand? More watts?

I think BF Hardline will be my go-to game so that's good news right there. I'm a beginner so I'm kind of confused about bottleneck. Does that mean my games will perform less than they would if I had a gpu that wasn't bottlenecked? Or is bottleneck just lost potential, but still performs as good or better than lesser GPUs?

XFX is good and 650W is enough for a single 290X.

Cool. Thanks for all the help pal. Just gotta wait for the 390x to come out now so I can save some cash :)

Yea but the price of the 290X will drive down. By the way, could you answer my bottleneck question above?
