Need to upgrade the graphics card from the intel chipset to run autocad. Low profile with 300 watt PSU. Any low power cards that will help? Autocad recommends 2gb Prefer $100 or less...it has an i5 and 8gb ram

you're probably going to need to ugprade that PSU. For instance, the best card you can get under $100 is an R7 260X but it requires at least a 500w PSU

you could instead go with an Nvidia GPU which is a lot more power efficient. Something like a GTX 650

However, if your PSU is junk OEM PSU from an HP/dell prebuild or something, the 12v rail is likely not strong enough to run any decent card.

well that's over the budget...and actually, looks like OP needs a low profile card, in which case the best low profile card in that price range is this (LOL)

Otherwise, if budget isn't strict, you can get up to a 750 Ti. Galaxy has a low profile version that for whatever reason is impossible to find anywhere else except here:

Why would he need a L-P card in a mini tower? I'm assuming it is this: http://www.geek.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/dell-inspiron-660.jpg
Correct me if I am wrong.
And yes, the GTX 750 Ti is over budget. I just mentioned that as the fastest card he could use w/o a PSU upgrade. If he's like me, I've talked myself into more expensive items than I originally was looking for too many times to count...lol.

Solution
MSI GeForce GTX 750 [N750-1GD5/OC] for $99.99

The Dell Inspiron 660 Mini Tower takes full height graphics cards.

Awesome help! I think Dell lists the 660 slim version when it says low profile. I look at the slot and it looks like a full size but not much room for a wide card. If the GTX 750 Ti does not need the 6pin it could work. Amazon has it at $109 for the 1gb version and Newegg link shown $99. lists 300 watt PS so I may try that. Thanks!

EVGA GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5 64bit DVI/HDMI/VGA Low Profile Graphics Card 02G-P3-3733-KR sells for $74 and 300 watt PS but how do you know if it needs a 6pin? I am not sure if the 2gb is better or 1gb at 128 bit?

GT 730? No, that needs no 6 pin connection. But that is quite a bit slower than the GTX 750/750 Ti. Still a good card for 720p resolutions tho.

If you get the 750/750 Ti, go for 2GB if you game at 1080p rez.

The GT 730 won't be able to run at high enough textures, A-A, etc. to utilize 2GB. But get the DDR5 model, not the DDR3.
I believe the one you mentioned IS DDR5.

Thanks,
My daughter is an architecture student and will chip in the extra $30 to get the GTX 750 Ti so she should have no problems running autocad. I noticed most of the 730's run very long anyway after looking on NVidia website..like 10-12in and I think it would hit the hard drive frame.
