Just a normal internal SATA cable. E.g. http://www.amazon.com/CNE11445-SATA-Data-Cable-2pk/dp/B001O4EPHA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1425631784&sr=8-4&keywords=sata+cable You'll also need a free SATA power connector on your PSU.

If the drive won't open then either it is broken or you haven't connected the power cable correctly. The data cable doesn't need to be connected for this to happen, and BIOS settings won't affect it. Check the power connection.
There's no real difference between a 3Gb/s and a 6Gb/s SATA data cable. The drive will work exactly the same with either.
